CLUB NEWS, LOCAL SPORTS EVENTS AND RESULTSRavenshoe Golf Notes Ravenshoe Millstream Country Club held their AGM on Sunday last, with Ron Rankine, President, Alan Bull Secretary, Anne Heinemann Treasurer, all being returned to office. Lyn Rankine was elected as Vice President, and Jo Klease, Heather Murphy, and David Cassells making up the committee. No one could be convinced to accept the position of Captain, so this position is to be filled at a later date. [Be careful when you put your hand in the air anywhere near the golf club, we are very keen to see this position filled ASAP] The fees for the Wednesday competition were increased to $7.00, and it was decided to introduce a 9 hole Saturday afternoon competition, 2.30pm tee off, with a $7.00 fee, to begin this saturday 21st January. Sunday competition remains the same. Our very popular Dinner nights will continue, starting on Friday 27th January, with the cost remaining at $10 per head. This is terrific value, with home cooked meals, thanks to Joan, Jo, and the girls, that are delicious. Families are most welcome, with kids meals and icecream with sprinkles for dessert. Don’t forget our new Saturday afternoon competition for members, we hope to get good numbers to make it a success. Our popular 3 ball Ambrose for beginners, sponsored by Hotel Tully Falls, will continue this year, the first one being pencilled in for February 18th. The first of our Free golf lesson clinics for this year, run by Paul Foster, will be held on Saturday 4th February, commencing at 1.00pm Happy new year to all, your new year resolution should be to take up golf, and enjoy the exercise, fresh air, and friendly atmosphere at the 19th hole. ________________________________________ RAVENSHOE SPORTING SHOOTERS January 11: Pistol Standard 25m results – Nick Ernst 445, Brian Helring 430, Peter Burg 396, Ken Jarman 319.
